My first group (ages 13-18) was a wedding trio, variety band. By high school it grew to a 4 piece organization. My mom helped me organize it and drove me to gigs until I could drive. She also booked the band in the early days. Without her I would not have had a band.
Holy Toledo Polka Stars
I was drafted into the big leagues as a freshman at University of Toledo (age 18). I never recorded with them but they were instrumental in introducing me to the "polka road".
A Touch of Brass
After Holy Toledo Polka Stars broke up, 1/2 the band became Toledo PolkaMotion and the other 1/2 became Touch Of Brass. I pursued the later and recorded TOBs debut album.
A short stint backing up Maniu with Jan Cyman and his group which was based in Buffalo at the time.
I had the opportunity to play a few jobs with this hall of fame band, but most noteably, I played Larry Trojak's last weekend with the band at Frankenmuth (great memories from that weekend)!
Czelusta Park All-Stars
Originally, I fronted this band for my wedding shower. It was a showcase of all-star talent in Northwest Ohio. Although some of the names have changed, we still perform limited gigs under this name.
My next venture as a band leader. A wedding/pop band at first then it evolved into a polka band (it's a sickness!)
Bob Earl & the All Stars
I had a great time being schooled by the old timers of the region.
Bob Zielinski & the Kingsmen
I worked and recorded with Bob Zielinski over a lengthy time period. I owe much to Bob's generosity. He gave me recording studio experience, an appreciation for eastern style music and a great deal of "polka" knowledge regarding both Toledo bands and out of town groups. I traveled extensively in Michigan and Florida with Bob.
CRUSADE featuring Eddie Biegaj
I joined forces with my high school bud for a 6 1/2 year musical experimentation journey. Good times, good music and still good friends. It doesn't get any better!
This band performed exclusively at Jim and Lou's Bar in the Polish Village of North Toledo until that fatefull day in October, 2005. That was the day of the Toledo riot and Jim and Lou's bar was burned to the ground.
Randal Sandal and the Flip Flops
This band also performed exclusively at Jim and Lou's Bar in the Polish Village of North Toledo until that fateful day in October, 2005. That was the day of the Toledo riot and Jim and Lou's bar was burned to the ground.
The Swingin' Richards
I fronted this band for limited intimate engagemments around the Toledo area
The Swingin' Ditkas
The next generation of the Swingin Richards band. The Swingin' Ditkas are an acoustic experience unlike any other you will see or hear. With classic polkas ranging from the 30's and into the 21st Century. The Swingin' Richards are your fun time band for all occasions, big or small. We can get intimate on any level.
Hard core Polish polkas, waltzes and obereks. In my post-crusade years, I needed a creative outlet and got lucky to land a who's-who line-up of polka talent. I still have many things to accomplish and new heights to reach. I'm looking forward to the future.
